He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

THE DASSETT Church of England

PRIMARY SCHOOL

This Fenny Compton primary school is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school with approximatly 150 pupils to which the Priest-in- Charge of Avon Dassett with Fenny Compton is a Foundation Governor. In 2017, the SIAMS inspection found the school ‘good’ with some 'outstanding’ features.

Assemblies: The vicar and members of the congregation alternate in doing fortnightly assemblies, with the congregation following Open the Book. Following the clergy assembly, to which parents are invited, the vicar is available for parents for a chat and a coffee.

Religious  Instruction: the vicar has attended and assisted the teachers in RI for years 1 and 2, and years 3 and 4.

Church services: Children come into church for key services through the year and the clergy lead school church services 4 or 5 times a year and a school communion service is held several times a year.

TOTS and TODDLERS

Tots and Toddlers runs during term time and half term holidays every Wednesday between 9.45am and 11.45am in the village hall.

The church runs this on behalf of a friendly group of Mums and Carers who are always looking for new members. The group is open to any under school age children.

There are plenty of toys to play with, an activity table, a reading corner and a sing-song after packing up time! We provide drinks and snacks between 10.30 and 11am. The cost is £2 per child, but free for first-timers.

Due to social distancing caused by the COVID 19 pandemic this is not running but we will recommence as soon as is possible.

Children and Families: Join Us

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Deuteronomy 6:7-7

Children and Families: Text

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
